Using Exposure
and Contrast to Now that we’ve discussed exposure in some detail in
the “Understanding Exposure” article, it becomes apparent that some scenes
are too high in contrast (the variance between light and dark) to allow
the entire scene to be captured without loosing detail in either the
highlights, the shadows, or both. But consider this…possibly we can use
that high contrast artistically to create impressive and moving pictures. Three common ways to embrace Contrast, or possibly
the lack of contrast, are discussed in the following sections: High Key
Photography, Low Key Photography, and Silhouettes. All of which are ways
to not only deal with contrast, but to embrace it!
